We are actively looking for local and international partners for such projects, to be implemented over the next few years. Some examples of these are:
Community-based rehabilitation (CBR)/community-based inclusive development (CBID)/Community-based assisted living (CBAL) – facilitating independent living for persons with physical disabilities, providing access to affordable assistive devices, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, support groups, home adaptation and transport services.
Inclusive education – this project aims to make mainstream schools accessible to learners with disabilities; providing adaptive technologies and training, equipping educators and staff and educating families.
Economic Empowerment – providing skills and training to increase employability and place participants in appropriate employment.
Access to Livelihoods – the A2L project saw some 300 persons with disabilities in low-income areas receive skills training; being placed in employment with participating employers thereafter.
Motus Group – one of our homes ran a successful programme in partnership with Motus Group; several residents were put through a learnership and placed in permanent employment within the Group. We are looking to extend this to other homes.
Independent Living Project – providing mentorship and support to a self-managed independent living centre for persons with physical disabilities in Soweto. This project provides in-home personal care and peer support to 45 users.
